Founded in 2019, Tyype emerged from our founder's struggles as an Afro-textured-haired woman. She faced challenges in finding hairdressers who could effectively style her hair, which inspired the creation of our platform. To address this gap, we launched the beta version of Tyype in 2021.
Key Milestones
- Built the first platform with 100 signed hairdressers.
- Generated 250 bookings in London.
- Gained 5,000 social media followers.
Overcoming Hurdles
Despite our initial success, we quickly realised the need to cater to clients from diverse backgrounds across the UK and even Colorado. Managing everything alone became overwhelming. In 2022, we began fundraising and actively sought investors to support our vision. Unfortunately, we faced a setback when an investor misappropriated all our savings, leaving us with nothing. As a result, we had to put everything on hold and return to traditional jobs. After two challenging years, we are now ready to start anew.
